As a "double-Demon," I have been involved with DePaul University for over ten years. Upon returning to DePaul for my MBA, I became involved with the MBA Association, which has greatly shaped my experiences within the program and introduced me to an entirely new group of friends. Conversely, I have met others through the course of my studies, whom have never attended an event and/or are unaware of all that the MBA Association offers. After graduating from DePaul in 2004, I worked as a Promotions Assistant for WXRT-FM. Employment experience summary: I've been with my current employer since October 1997. My current role is Manager of MIS, overseeing all technology matters for the organization. My role involves management of the MIS Department, including: defining IT strategy for the organization, IT budget oversight and management, staff management, project management, and more.

Prior MBAA Experience: I have been a member of the MBA Association since the fall of 2008. During my time in the MBA Association I have participated in several events such as the year end and holiday events, the annual wine tastings, several storytellers and of course Third Thursdays! Through all of these events I have gained strong friendships and a valuable professional network.
Why are you applying for this position? The VP of Events is one of the most important and visible roles on the board. My experience in planning events for my company gives me the strong background that I will need to be successful in such an important role. In this role I would like to continue the events that have been successful in the past, such as the events mentioned above, but also introduce some new events to keep things fresh. The events are a fun and easy way for MBA students to network and get to know each other and are an important part of the MBA experience.
Employment experience summary: I graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor's in Marketing from Loyola University. After college I began my career as an HR Coordinator at LaSalle Bank and was promoted into a Corporate Recruiter role after about two years. I left LaSalle Bank in 2005 to take a Corporate Recruiter position at Equity Office which is a commercial real estate company headquartered in Chicago. In 2007 I was promoted into an HR Generalist role with Equity Office which is where I remain today.
Volunteer experience: Through the MBA Association I recently volunteered with Sarah's Circle (www.sarahs-circle.org) which is an organization in the Uptown neighborhood which provides services for homeless women. I also volunteer at a yearly golf outing for the Marquette Park Therapeutic Recreation Program (www.mtrchicago.org) which provides Special Olympics training and a variety of recreational activities for individuals with special needs. A few weeks ago I read essays for the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative essay reading contest (www.4fathers.org) which promotes responsible fatherhood and strong father-child relationships. Most recently I have signed up to volunteer with Slow Food Chicago (www.slowfoodchicago.org) which is an organization that promotes healthy food in schools and is an organization that I am extremely excited to get involved with.
Leadership experience: In my current job I lead a team of employees from all departments which gathers feedback on morale and makes suggestions to the company's top executives which has led to several company wide initiatives. This team also helps to plan company outings and organize charity events so this has helped me gain valuable event planning experience. I have also led several project task forces at my company including a task force that overhauled our entire recruiting process and another that revamped our employee handbook. During my time at LaSalle Bank I led my department's March of Dimes campaign and during college I served in several leadership roles in my sorority including Treasurer and PR Chair.

I have been working at SANYO for 3 years in Digital Marketing and Public Relations. When I finished my undergrad in Advertising from the University of Colorado, I started out in a job with 4 titles, Marketing Communications Coordinator- PR, Branding and Webmaster (it didn't even fit on my card) because I had no idea what I wanted to specialize in for fear of limiting myself. I was infatuated with everything about the industry- that anything could inspire creativity, transpire art, spread a new idea or shape pop culture. We created lesson plans, vocabulary lists, word games, and challenging exercises to improve English skills and immerse the students in American culture.

1 of 7 students that controlled 30 K, the largest student government organization in the country. Obtained over 60 K in funding for campus renovations and creation of the ATLAS (technology, arts and media) Center. Created a grassroots and digital election campaign that reached over 3,000 voters. Why are you applying for this position? I feel no matter where you are in life you should give back to the community and try to make someone else's live a little bit better. Employment experience summary: I have worked as a special education teaching assistant as well as an account rep dealing with multi-million dollar accounts. When I wasn't working I was trying to become a professional big mountain skier.
Volunteer experience: Along with being on the MBAA Philanthropy committee last year, I was fortunate enough to spend a week in New Orleans consulting for a non-profit as part of DePaul's Business Corps trip for full-time students. Most of my volunteer work has been centered on coaching youth sports - I was a volunteer assistant varsity wrestling coach at a local high school in Champaign, IL during my 5 years of college as well as a volunteer head freshman lacrosse coach for Hoffman Estates high school when I was a teaching assistant.
Leadership experience: I have taken on a significant leadership role in my short time at DePaul. I was intimately involved in planning DePaul's business corps trip as the team contact person for not-for profit we would be working with on the trip. Brian Vranek
Brian began the part-time MBA program with DePaul in the Spring of 2009 and expects to complete the program in the Spring of 2011. He completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Brian has spent the last 4 years in the Commercial Banking Industry starting his career at LaSalle Bank and now working for Bank of America. Currently, he is a Portfolio Officer for the Financial Institutions Special Assets Group. He focuses on developing solutions for distressed borrowers in the Chicago area. Aside from work, Brian is involved with the Young Professionals of Chicago Organization. In his spare time, Brian enjoys travelling, playing sports, and spending time with friends.
Claudia Zacharias
Claudia started her part-time MBA program in the summer of 2009 with a concentration in Marketing Management. She joined the committee in the fall of 2009. Claudia earned her undergraduate degree from American University in Washington, D.C. with a BA in Literature as well as a BA in Visual Communications (concentration photography). She then went on to study advertising photography at the New England School of Photography in Boston, MA. Currently she works for Mutual Funds Against Cancer, a Boston based not for profit that raises funds for cancer research within the financial and mutual fund industries. All profits go to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to aid in the research for cutting edge treatments for the six deadliest cancers. Claudia's role involves event management, graphic design and promotion of fundraising initiatives. Mutual Funds Against Cancer (also know as the Expect Miracles Foundation) was the impetus for her desire to pursue a career in Marketing.

Gautam joined the part time MBA program in the fall of 2007 and graduated in June 2009 with concentrations of Finance and Strategy, Execution and Valuation.
